And if he changes his mind about getting in the race, Schoen said, Sheekey will be ready.

"(Sheekey) has done a very, very sophisticated analysis of the electorate," Schoen said. "I think Sheekey probably knows more about American voters - and particularly these restless and anxious moderates - than anyone operating.

And I think he has a sense as to what the electorate is looking for; and armed with that information and how the race plays out in the next two or three weeks, on both the Democratic and Republican side, I think you will see if the mayor changes his mind."

Knowledge of the so-called Sheekey "master plan" has been out there for some time - perhaps it started here? But Schoen has been doing a lot of chatting with the media these days to coincide with the release this week of his new book, "Delcaring Independence: The Beginning of the End of the Two-Party System."

Orthodox Boxer’s Balancing Act

The era of Jewish boxers — tough guys from the ghettos, like Benny Leonard and Barney Ross — is over. For that matter, the era of boxing itself, once king of all American sports, has passed, as well. In that regard, Dmitriy Salita is doubly a throwback, being both Jewish and a boxer, with an added twist: As a practicing Orthodox Jew, he does not fight on the Sabbath. What normally might be a potentially fatal limitation for a boxer (many fights are scheduled for weekend nights) has proved to be a public relations bonanza for this undefeated junior welterweight, now the star of Jason Hutt's documentary film “Orthodox Stance," opening January 25 in New York and April 11 in Los Angeles.

In addition to boxing, Salita, 25, is something of a juggler, balancing his sincere commitment to Chabad Orthodoxy with his training regimen, and the relative looseness of the sporting world with the stringency of religious practice.

BREAKING NEWS: BOB KNIGHT RESIGNS EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

NewsChannel 11 has just learned that Texas Tech Basketball Coach Bob Knight has resigned effective immediately. We're told Assistant Coach Pat Knight will take over.

The announcement comes just two days before Tech's next basketball game which is Wednesday against Baylor in Waco. It also comes less than three weeks after Knight's record 900th win.

Sources tell NewsChannnel 11 that Coach Knight told Athletic Director Gerald Myers that he was ready to quit and tired of coaching. NewsChannel 11 is also told that Knight told his team Monday morning about his plans to step down.

ESPN is quoting Knight as saying ..."I've never really known when I was going to step down from this job, As I thought about it, my first thought was at the end of this season"...the best thing for the long run for this team would be for Pat and his staff to coach these remaining 10 games..."

NewsChannel 11 is at Texas Tech learning more about this developing story and we'll have the latest on NewsChannel 11 at 10.

Jeff Thelen's Blog

After hearing the exchange, the group behind us (all adults) actually made several comments about the movie during the movie. (I found them all pretty funny) But the gentleman in front of me didn't say another word.

So, here's my question to you. Is it rude to talk and laugh and make comments at a theater, before the film begins during the trailers? Or is it rude to ask someone to hush up in a theater before the movie begins?

I know some people really like the previews, so may be we were out of line. On the other hand, I sort of felt like he jumped the gun telling us to be quiet before the movie ever began.

I'm sort of lost here, does anyone know proper theater etiquette?

J
