Liverpool 5-0 Luton Town
Tom Hicks and George Gillett may be acting up like a pair of clowns, but something needs to change on the pitch now, if not sooner, if only because Jamie Carragher deserves better on his 500th appearance for the club. This is a strong team Liverpool have put out tonight; you'd be forgiven for thinking after three-and-a-half years the penny has finally dropped: Itandje, Arbeloa, Carragher, Hyypia, Riise, Pennant, Alonso, Gerrard, Babel, Crouch, Torres. Subs: Martin, Kewell, Aurelio, Kuyt, Lucas. Luton Town meanwhile are doing what they can, but Don Hutchison in central defence, for goodness sake; they may as well field a wardrobe and be done with it: Brill, Jackson, Don Hutchison for the love of sweet baby Moses, Keane, Goodall, Bell, Robinson, Spring, Currie, Andrew, Talbot.
Sprague H.S. wrestler Pena dominates on the mat
SALEM, Ore. - Next week, Sprague High school's R.J. Pena will look to do something very few high school wrestlers have ever done: he's gunning for his 3rd straight state title. But even if he accomplishes that impressive feat, the Junior wrestler will probably walk off the mat wondering what else he can do to get even better. It's easy for teammates to describe Sprague's Pena on the mat. They usually use one word: dominant. And so far Pena has been just that. He won the 112-pound state crown as a freshmen, the 125-pound title last year and so far this year in the 140-pound division, he's undefeated. "Ever since I was little I wanted to be a four-time state champion," Pena said. "That has been my goal, my dream and of course if I win this year I'll have one more year and I'll have my goal."Coach Kary Hadden has confidence he can do it.
Steiner Ranch Dermatology Offers Breakthrough Acne Laser Treatment
Steiner Ranch Dermatology announced the addition of Isolaz, a revolutionary light-based treatment for eliminating acne, removing unwanted hair and rejuvenating aging and sun-damaged skin."The start of the new year is often a time when people resolve to remove barriers to happiness and confidence," said Dr. Ted Lain, Steiner Ranch Dermatology. "While there are a number of effective ways to prevent and reduce signs of acne, some patients need a little extra help. National Gallery gets $2M donation
The gallery announced today that Audain's donation will be used for the endowment of a chair in indigenous art. The money comes on top of the $2 million Audain donated to the gallery last year for the acquisition of Canadian contemporary art, with special emphasis on works by aboriginal and British Columbia artists. Those are just some of the millions Audain has pumped into the Canadian art world. Just a few weeks ago the Audain Foundation, a major force in the B.C. visual arts world, handed $1 million to the Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art, which is to open in Vancouver next May. .

EAST BAY ROUNDUP
MAYOR'S CHIEF OF STAFF TO LEAVE CITY: Dave Grenell, chief of staff to Richmond Mayor Gayle McLaughlin, plans to leave the city at the end of the year to study government policy abroad. Grenell, 34, will spend about eight months in nine European countries through the Marshall Memorial Fellowship, a 26-year-old program that encourages participants to work together on international and domestic policy challenges. Some of the best ideas, particularly in environmental and social issues, have originated outside the United States, spurring Grenell's interest to apply for the fellowship, he said. Ireland, for example, banned plastic bags years before San Francisco became the first city to prohibit it in this country. "I think government needs to be about pursuing the best ideas available to solve problems," Grenell said.
Taser Fires Back at U.N. Anti-Torture Committee: Analysis
The guy in the "Don't Tase me Bro" video is not. Why? There were 4 officers, and one even had a good starting point for a come along out of the escort position that would have ended the situation without taser use. What happened? The poorly trained officers reached for a taser. Every officer in our class had nothing good to say about that incident. Officers need to become better in using tools that lower on the continuum of force, including come alongs and joint locks. Unfortunately, that takes work, and many officers are lazy...just like the rest of society. The UN is a pile of crap. 53. RE: Taser Fires Back at U.N. Anti-Torture Committee: Analysis It is not the responsibility of the police to "calm you down." Here's a very, VERY simple tip to not getting tasered. Don't do stupid s%$#. When you get a ticket, go to court.
